October 10 (Wednesday) Push That Cart Lab Day 2
If you were gone today (Michael, thinking of you and your tonsils out surgery today) and (Trevor, enjoy seeing what Eden is learning today in Physics... I'll video tape her today so you can see her in action...the last frame was her saying. "Hi Trevor." but I shut the camera off as she was saying it.)
The Einstein Board had on it: 1). You tube video below of two of the three inertia safety items in your auto explained. 2). I told the below story of how you should be aware of storing your massive items behind you. 3). Passed around a seat belt mechanism so you can see how inertia makes two lead weights cont. to move forward...locking you in the belt. 4). Showed a Turner and Hootch video clip where Tom Hanks seat belts himself in and hits a wall at a high rate of speed on purpose so the bad guy (who did not buckle up) flies through the front window. 5). Did any problems from the homework Unit 2 Problem Sheet, front side, problems 1-6 on the smart board (answer key below) 6). Gave students time to work on their Push That Cart Lab.
Three factors that auto dealers have in your auto that if you use them properly will save your life
This video shows the first two: inertia can kill you or save you, your choice video below:
The third way some auto dealers provide a way to save your life when packing your

Story:
From the almost dead person's point of view:
I am late for getting to volleyball practice and the coach will not be happy so I'll go 42 MPH in this 35 MPH road from my home. Oh, it looks like a right turn signal is on as a car looks like it is hanging a right into his driveway so is slowing; I'll just speed around him in the left lane...
As she is starting around him on the left....WHAT, he is turning left instead...to late...I have to serve left into his driveway to miss him...A TREE....Where am I?????
From my friends point of view:
I am nearing my driveway on the left like I do everyday at this time... I see a car approaching fast in back of me so I'll pump my brakes so they know I'm hanging a left...(he doesn't know his left signal and braking lights are out so pumping his brakes makes it look like he is hanging a right)...time to turn...
What??? They are going to hit me....NO, They hit my TREE... SAYING A PRAYER FOR THEM...CALLING 911...
Afterwards: Bowling bag with ball in back of seat on top of junk...just missed her head...found a half a block ahead of her car ..girl had air bag and seat belt on... girl is alive...auto is totaled...girls doesn't make practice for the rest of the season...
end of story.... How should you pack massive items in back of your seat and passengers seat....taking inertia into account????
Tie them tight to something behind you or pack them low on the floor so they just take off your feet or pack them so they miss everyone as they travel in a straight line forward in an accident.
