Roller Coaster Day Thursday Feb.7, 2013
If you missed today 2013-2014:
Period 2 in room 2342:
We finished the homework sheet for the Energy Unit:
Period 2 home done on smart board
If you missed today: 2012-2013
1. We finished the homework sheet (due today or tomorrow) Smartboard work below for each period.
2. We showed Six Flags Great America ride videos and discussed the Physics behind each ride.
3. I told several pressure stories
a). While students used a straw to move water from one cup to a second empty cup by placing the straw in the water then placing a finger over the top of the straw so the water would not flow out while transporting the water in the straw to the other cup and removing finger from top of straw to let the water out; I told a story about how after a snow storm sometimes I have to climb up on my roof and pour hot water down the vent pipe on the roof.

b). A Shopko worker could not pull a large bag of recyclables out of a garbage can and couldn't. I happened to be walking by and with her permission took a pocket knife and poked a hole in the bottom of cardboard barrel so air could come in as the sack was pulled out.
c). After large snowstorms, Mr. K.'s plumbing in the home makes strange noises until Mr. K. pours hot water down the plumbing vent pipe on his roof (that is plugged with snow) so water can be followed by air again to the septic tank.
d). When Mr. K. is pouring frozen orange juice it stops a little way out until he uses a can opener to poke a hole in the bottom so air can follow the frozen orange juice out.
e). Mr. K. has to open the window near his wood burner to equalize the pressure in the room in order to start the draft of his wood burner.

Showed a roller coaster video made at Six Flags Great America from You-Tube before having a raise of hands of students wishing to go and strong maybe's. I will download this when I get back to school.
Mr. Jenkins demonstrates a pressure demonstration to Mr. Flasch after giving pointers to Mr. Flasch in the first video.
