1. Grandma Ann & Glenn Greenquist lived in Glendale, CA for sometime before moving to Medford, OR. When in Medford, Judy & I (Paul Konichek) visited them for a week and we traveled together in their auto to Northern CA redwoods & up the Oregon coast (Coos Bay) to the northern boarder then down the middle of the state visiting the lodge at Mt Hood and back to Medford. As we pulled into Coos Bay we noticed a motel sign advertising a small price like $23.00 so we pulled in. Grandma Ann & I went into the office and right away I noticed porn on the TV in back of the desk. When I mentioned to the bewildered receptionist (she was eyeing up Grandma & me age difference) the $23 for a room, she replied, "That's $23 per hour for a room." Grandma & I high tailed it out of their and Glen & Judy had a great laugh when we shared what happened after returning to them in the auto.
2. One time Grandma Ann & Glenn visited us in Wisconsin Rapids, WI when Judy's folks (John & Joyce Jancik) were already living near us in Rome, WI at the Lake House. When I mentioned we should all go and get a Hershleb's Malt everyone agreed and Glenn came back with (he had a great sense of humor) that was the only reason they drove all the way from Medford, OR. Anyway, for some reason Glen & I had to run an errand in town but stopped and had a malt on the way home. As soon as we got home someone mentioned, "Let's go for that malt now!", so we all went back to Hershleb's without Glen & I saying anything. As we finished a waitress came up to us in front of the whole gang and said, " You two must really like malts as you came right back for a second one!" Our secret was out and Glen had a good laugh breaking the looks of others in astonishment.
3. Judy & I visited Grandma Ann & Glenn in Medford, OR because we heard Glen was dying in the hospital there. I had read the bible to Glenn one day and the next day had learned he was still pulling great pranks on the hospital staff with his great humor right up until the end. Anyway, I guess his son had visited him that next day and when a nurse brought his son into see him she said, "Do you know this man Glenn?" Glenn replied with a serious face, "I've never seen this man before in my life." Glenn noticing how worried the nurse now was immediately started laughing (the best he could) and said, "He's my son!" Glenn died soon after that and Grandma Ann moved down to Sturtevant, WI near her son Les Wald who watched out for his mother until she passed away. Judy & I and our children Alissa & Aaron had visited her many times in her apartment in Sturtevant & still have her two cool (porcilin I think) dogs (Ike & Mike) to remember her by that are Aaron's now (Judy just told me).
