I just currently updated my large family's living genealogy under ANCESTRY and Konichek Family birthdays as my niece just became a grand Uncle again last month. Our mother pasted away Dec 29, 2024, at the age of 100. When she was 80 years old, she put me in charge of our family genealogy, giving me all her notes. If you have a large family, you may wish to look at what I've done as I have four formats (by month, by age, by generation, and by family). Each format is handy to have.
The original by month format is great for the front of your refrigerator to keep track of family birthdays.
The by age came in handy at a family wedding so family members could easily see which family members were their age or the children's ages.
The generation format is great for seeing how everyone is related easily as the grandkids are all 1st cousins (or my nieces & nephews if not my own kids) and the great-grandkids of my parents are all 2nd cousins (or my grandnieces & nephews if not my grandkids) and the great-grandkids of my parents are all 3rd cousins to each other (or my great-grand-nieces & nephews and the great-great-grandkids are all 3rd cousins (or my great-great-grand-nieces & nephews). Believe it or not but I've been invited and went to some of my great-great-grand-nieces & nephews birthday parties and grand-nieces & nephew's weddings with my wife (we've been married 50 years as of 06/01/2024).
The by family format is helpful if you're placing a comment under a family photo of a sibling how they are all related to each other. There is also a secret code on the monthly format that helps our family keep track of where this person belongs in our huge family. The reason why there is only first names mentioned is for privacy reasons as we all know each other's last names within the family.
