The Hot Wheels Jump Through the Burning Ring of Fire
If you missed today: We did an extra lab that you have three choices on...either it can be used as a make-up lab (if you missed a 10 pt. quickie lab this quarter), or extra credit for 10 points. or you can just review as today is a review day also.
For the Hot Wheels Jump Quickie Lab:
Purpose: To figure out the range (so the other table with the landing track can be pulled at the correct distance for a safe landing) and the maximum height (so the burning ring of fire can be set at the correct height for the hot wheels car to jump through the center of the burning hoop) choosing an angle on the inline plane and using the time from the timing gate that their flag (paper width on top of the car passing through photo gate) goes through the photo gate as it leaves the jump into the thin air.
Students are to figure out the data table themselves and take over the rest of the lab. Start out with groups of two figuring everything out but end up breaking the class into two large groups using the same angle but different height drops.
