The Upper Green Trail (the trail with the most ups & downs, and parallels Little Barten Creek at the lower end by the Elementary School access road, Mira Vista Road)
The Upper Green Trail is cool as it connects from HW upper round-a-bout (under the highlines) to the HW Elementary School Road (Mira Vista Drive off the lower HW round-a-bout) through several woods, several going up and down hills, and several habitats. The lower part of this trail is where I placed my field camera to film the wild pigs (who were the opposite of threatening and you can see these videos on this same website under the heading Field Camera Photos/Videos) as it's close to the Little Barten Creek that flows in the spring with waterfalls.
There is a Red Trail off this Green Trail but stay on the Green Trail (unless you're curious like we were once and got lost on that Red Trail and took an undesirable shortcut back to the Green Trail).
The Upper Green Trail will follow under highlines for a while and at the top of the hill climb from the highline part one can go straight and end up near the HOA Townes Crt trail (if you are in a hurry to get off the Upper Green Trail).
I admire the Upper Green Trail for it's variety of ecosystems and how often you ascend and then descent again into cool woods, and again, and again.
Most people combine all these different trails to make a series of convenient loop for themselves. An example is that we call this our 3-mile route that includes the HOA trail from Tierra Trail up to and over Homestead Park coming out by Townes Crt, and then at the end of Townes Crt the HOA Townes Crt trail to HWBLVD, then crossing HWBLVD to the HOA Mulch Road Trail (HOA calls it Skyline Trail) and down the Mulch Road Trail to the HW Elementary School Road Entrance/Exit Road (Mira Vista Drive), then back up the Upper Green Trail to our upper round-a-bout, then past HW Upper Playground to the HW Dog Park, then down the hill on the Upper Red Route to the Roy Branch Road Bridge and then we go our separate ways home from there. There are literally dozens of combinations of these trails to make life more adventurous and interesting.
