The Lower Green Trail
(Highlights include HW Bluebonnet Field, future access to Rathgeber Public Park, near new elementary school at one point.)
The Lower Green Trail is a total of 1.49 miles from the Blue trail on the northeast end to Mira Vista Road (road to HW Elementary School from HW lower round-a-bout) on the southwest end.
The breakdown of the 1.49 miles: Starting on the NE end of the Lower Green Trail where it meets up with the Blue Trail at the end of the gravel road straight off lower end of Crescent Moon Court on east end of Sage Trasher Circle it's 0.20 miles to the back of HW Water Treatment Plant facility, then another 0.20 miles to the water reservoir crossing (here you could exit to the northwest end of Sage Thrasher Circle where it meets Moonlit Stream Pass), then another 0.08 miles to the Rathgeber's future park entrance, another 0.11 miles to another Rathgeber's no trespassing sign by a huge cliff overlooking Little Barton Creek, then another 0.06 miles to the back of Moonlit Stream Pass homes, then another 0.06 miles to HW best Bluebonnet field, then another 0.16 miles to where the lower green trail meets up the HOA Skyline Trail into Moonlit Stream Pass, the lower green trail only follows the HOA Skyline Trail for 0.05 miles before splitting off east (downhill) under the highlines, another 0.10 miles gets you to a temporary fence that you can easily step over twice (you'll see the new HW Elementary School to your west side), finally another 0.40 miles gets you to the southwest end of the Lower Green Trail, on Mira Vista Road, by the red fire hydrant nearest the bridge over Little Barten Creek.
The Lower Green Trail goes from the HW Elementary School access road (Mira Vista Drive off the lower roundabout) to the construction road just off the lower end of Crescent Moon Court.
This Lower Green Trail can be found getting on Mira Vista Drive and looking for the red fire hydrant. It also is just an extension of the Upper Green Trail, both just east of the bridge on Mira Vista Drive.
Once you get on the Lower Green Trail, it takes you through a woods that as you get to the other side of this woods opens up near where the HOA has the dead end of its Skyline Trail that can take you back to the Skyline Mulch trail (our HOA calls both this trail and the Mulch Road Trail the Skyline Trail). I think the HOA trail will someday lead into the new Rathgeber Natural Resource Park (search online for the latest about this public Dripping Springs Park).
Notice this Lower Green Trail butts up against the construction of HW Elementary School grounds and there is a temporary construction fence that you'll have to walk over twice (which is easy as the fence is mostly collapsed where the trail crosses the fence).
The far north end of the Lower Green Trail boarders the future Rathgeber Natural Resource Park, so be careful not to enter the Park yet until it opens. Again, check out online as to the possible opening date of the public Dripping Springs Rathgeber Natural Resource Park.
The NE end of the Lower Green Trail goes behind our HW Water Treatment Plant and meets up with the Blue Trail. DANGER signs to NOT drink sitting water in these HW Water Treatment Plant drainage fields are all around most of the Lower Green Route trail areas. And other signs to NOT enter the Rathgeber Natural Resource Park. Once the Rathgeber Natural Resource Park opens, and the HW Elementary School is open for HW students, this Lower Green Trail will become more popular perhaps. Currently, our HW mountain bikers enjoy using this Lower Green Trail to hook up with the Blue Trail and other HW trails to ride the entire perimeter of HW.
Please step out of the way of mountain bikers as they built all the colored trails and maintain the trails themselves.
